Family Vacation

Abby took me on a mandatory vacation for my shared birthday with Al. She is now 1!!! I can not believe how fast the last year has gone. So many changes and new adventures. I digress, my birthday was awesome! We went to Carlsbad and stayed on the beach. My parents and sister came too and we had a great time playing on the beach, going to Lego Land and spending time together.

Belly Flop

So "National Turn Off the TV Week" didn't go as well as planned around here. We made it to Wednesday though. Here's my excuse: Alita is still doing nebulizer breathing treatments and to get her to sit still and breath in the medicine I let her watch "BooBah" and the boys like to regress and watch it too so, there went our "No TV Week". So it was a medical nessesity......... I know, lame excuse but it's really, really hard to get Alita to do those treatments! Frankly, it's hard to get her to do it even with the TV on because she's just not that interested in it yet(thankfully). And more rationalization: we don't let the kids watch that much TV so our week was hardly any different. As I look at the blog entry below interviewing the kids, that's what they do everyday. Our kids spend much more time outside, reading, playing Legos (etc) than watching TV. However, I am seriously considering a "Turn Off the Wii Week". I think that make a bigger impression on our family. There would be some serious tears if I announced that the Wii was taking a vacation. All the more reason to do it!

Monday Without TV

Joshua: I feel sad not watching TV.
Mom: What did you do today instead of TV?
Joshua: Played Legos, read a book with you.

Mom: Jesse what do you think of no TV so far?
Jesse: I don't know.
Mom: What did you do today instead of TV?
Jesse: I ate, riding my scooter and did some cartwheels.

It's National Turn Off Your TV Week!

So I made my boys really, really mad at me this morning when I told them we were going to participate in this year's "National Turn Off Your TV Week". It begins today April 21 and goes through to April 27th. One of the positive things we are going to do to replace TV is I'm going to "blog" an interview with the boys every evening about how they are feeling and what they are doing without TV. I'm hoping that by the end of the week both boys will have some positive experiences in their week without TV to report! Right now they aren't speaking to me =}.

Our washer and dryer went kaput last week and so we got new ones and entered the "He age". Alita thinks that it's pretty cool to watch the clothes spin around and around.
