"911--What is your emergency?"

Alita likes to play with the phone. She actually puts it up to her ear and pretends to talk into it. Usually she has it backwards or upside down but its really cute. She also likes her toy phone and makes "calls" on it often. Alita turns other objects into "phones" like a calculator and the remote control by putting them to her ear. She jabbers away like she's talking to long lost friends or Cookie Monster or whoever! I know, she's only 12 months old so we are starting a savings plan for her phone bill when she's a teenager now!

Anyway, today we were letting her carry around our real telephone as we have done on several occasions. I suddenly heard the "beep beep" of the buttons. She has never pressed the buttons before so I took the phone from her. I pressed "end call" without thinking much more about it and put the phone away. Not two seconds after I had hung up the phone, we promptly received a call from the Elk Grove Police dept! They said that they had received a call from our number and heard a small child talking!!!!! I apologized to the officer and told them my daughter had been playing with the phone. After I hung up I checked what the last number dialed had been and found out Alita had managed to press "talk" and had dialed "9-1-1-1"!!!!! What are the odds?????? Not only did she manage to get the phone off the hook but she dialed emergency services!!! Is she a genius or what?

"9-1-1, what is your emergency?"
"Help! My parents won't let me eat stuff off the floor! Send the police right away!"

More Six Flags Fun

Six Flags---WOOHOO!

One of my favorite places as a little girl was Marine World Africa USA (which I called Marine World Apricot USA according to my parents.....awwwwww). It was like Sea World in San Diego but not quite as good (or so I'm told). Anyway, Marine World is still there only apparently Six Flags bought it and it's now Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and we took the kids this week. They basically ripped out almost all of the cool animal exhibits and put in kick-butt roller coasters. But there are still some remnents of the old Marine World left, a cool shark exhibit, a dolphin show, one lonely walrus who swims around a big tank by himself. It was a far cry from the place I remember and honestly I was a bit saddened by the loss of a great animal park but...........of course the kids had a BLAST! Here are the pics, we went with our good friends and their daughters who are visiting from Seattle.

Family Vacation

Abby took me on a mandatory vacation for my shared birthday with Al. She is now 1!!! I can not believe how fast the last year has gone. So many changes and new adventures. I digress, my birthday was awesome! We went to Carlsbad and stayed on the beach. My parents and sister came too and we had a great time playing on the beach, going to Lego Land and spending time together.
